WORCESTERSHIRE ace George Rhodes took a remarkable nine wickets in Barnards Green’s emphatic nine-wicket victory over Birmingham League Division One relegation battlers Leamington Spa.
Green lost the toss and were sent to bowl by Spa skipper Jonathan Wigley.
However, the decision seemed to prove costly as Rhodes (9-23) tore through the visitors’ batting line up to skittle them out for a paltry 74 inside 29 overs.
In reply Rhodes could not match his fortunes with the ball with the bat as he was removed for just seven in reply.
But that was the only Green wicket to fall as the hosts eased to 78-1 after 9.2 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 39 from Ryan Tongue and 26 extras.
Green are on the road to league leaders Kidderminster on Saturday.
