MALVERN could not make it back-to-back wins in Worcestershire County League Division Three as they fell to a 142-run defeat to second-placed Alvechurch & Hopwood.
A&H opted to bat after winning the toss where captain Matt Hayward (137) and Edd Rogers (162no) fired the hosts to a mammoth score of 407-5 after 50 overs.
Malvern gave it a good go in reply with Oliver Halion (63), Jamie Williams (81), Thomas Fairclough (53) and David Cox (43no) all getting among the runs.
However, it was not enough as the Ramblers finished on 256-6.
Malvern head to Five Ways Old Edwardians on Saturday.
